From left to right, samples of Gail's cobweb scarves, rolling technique,
Gail demonstrating teasing the felt to create cobweb effect
Saturday
the 19th January saw us start the New Year with our own Gail Cooke leading the
Felt In on the cobweb technique, to over 24 members. Gail had lots of
scarves and wrap samples to show us. She demonstrated, using a length of
roving and the importance of teasing out the wool to achieve the cobweb effect.
Everyone set about making their samples which after laying and teasing was
wetted and the rolling commenced- 40 rolls each way- turning continually until
all the fibres were holding and meshed together. Then the bubble wrap under the
sample was pulled in both directions until the cobweb effect was
completed. This was great learning experience for everyone and many thanks
to Gail for all her hard work.
