NEEDLE FELT WORKSHOP

Needle-felting with Mandy & Helen at the Loft Gallery

As part of this year's exhibition Mandy & Helen held two back-to-back short workshops introducing the needle felting technique.

This was an open workshop with interested individuals joining in to needle some small cacti. Following a safety brief attendees were able to choose from a selection of coloured batts. With guidance from Mandy & Helen attendees were shown how to creating basic shapes and add spikes and flowers. These were then felted into 'soil' and placed in a tiny pot. As you can see from the photographs below, prickly pears, mamillaria, christmas cacti and columnar caerus were the order of the day.

Attendees appeared to enjoy the sessions with some lovely comments written in the Visitors' book. With lots of enthusiasm from the ladies there is little doubt  Feltmakers North will be seeing some new members come September.

A big thanks to Mandy & Helen for their time and commitment in organising and delivering the sessions.

Don't forget there will be a wet felt workshop led by Gail on the 19th inst.

Today saw the opening of our latest exhibition at the Loft Gallery in the picturesque village of Portaferry. With some 100 pieces exhibited there is something for everyone. Wall hangings, statues, pictures, hats, scarves & jackets demonstrate just some of the techniques and applications of felt.

A huge thank you to those who contributed and to those who came along to support the launch.

A rolling presentation incorporating a short video demonstrating both wet & needle felting techniques was on display. & another huge thanks to Tasha Henderson, the videographer/editor for her time and skills in producing this for the Guild
